Troopers report that they have arrested a man and recovered a stolen firearm in an investigation after a call from a business that reported the weapon missing on Monday in Ketchikan.

Ward Creek Industrial owner Wayne Beaupre reported the firearm  missing “when he could not locate the gun when looking for that specific gun for a customer,” troopers reported.

An investigation was opened, and when investigators viewed the footage from the business’s security cameras, they discovered the thief on the video. Trooper dispatch revealed that “40-year-old Nathaniel Leask of Ketchikan had removed the firearm from the store on or about 12-29-2015.” They also reported that at the time of the theft, Leask was accompanied by 20-year-old Morgan Ming.

Troopers made contact with Leask and Ming in a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon, and arrested both without incident. While Leask was remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Facility on Theft II Involving a Firearm, Ming was released at the scene. Troopers said that even though she was released, Ming will face charges as an accomplice in the crime.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
