Disturbance Call Results in Stolen Polaris Recovery

A stolen snow machine was recovered by Alaska State Troopers as the result an investigation of  a disturbance at the Soldotna High School on Tuesday, December 9th.

Troopers responded to the high school in Soldotna, and it was that disturbance call that would end in the recovery of a 2015 Polaris Assault 800 that was reported missing from Peninsula Powersports on October 27th. The stolen machine has an approximate value of $13,000.

The Alaska State Troopers Patrol Division, Alaska State Troopers Criminal Suppression Detail, and the Southcentral Drug Enforcement Unit contacted 18-year-old Kenai resident Austin Hibbert on Tuesday and found that he had the stolen snow machine in his possession.

As a result of the discovery, Hibbert was arrested and charged with Vehicle Theft I, Theft II, Removal of Identification Marks, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Criminal Mischief III and Criminal Trespass I. He was transported to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility and remanded there with no bail.

The snow machine was seized and Hibbert’s truck was released to a family member.
