The Alaska State Troopers were notified of a vessel grounding at 1:56 am on Tuesday morning in the Hoonah area.
Troopers contacted the Coast Guard and informed them of the situation on Sisters Island in Icy Straits.
The investigation of the grounding of the 43-foot Stardust found that the vessel grounded after its GPS system became inoperable. Captain Kristopher Foster reported losing the locator system.
Wildlife troopers remained with the vessel until it re-floated on the incoming tide.
The Coast Guard escorted the vessel to Juneau at 5:12 am on Tuesday.
