Victor Enrique Garcia, age 22, has been arrested and charged for the January 18th, 2013, murder of T.R.E.L. Zawko.

On January 18^th, 2013, around 1:30 pm, Anchorage Police were called to the 1300 block of Crescent Drive in response to a deceased male, later identified as T.R.E.L. Zawko. One of Mr. Zawko’s roommates had found him in their garage, bleeding from the head and face.

A short time later, just after 3:00 pm, APD Dispatch received a report of a male adult, later identified as Garcia, walking out of the woods about half a mile south of Zawko’s residence with a self inflicted laceration to his neck. Garcia had been staying in a home near the victim.

Evidence collected at the scene of the homicide included a bent aluminum baseball bat which appeared to have blood on portions of the barrel. DNA was collected from the bat and found to be consistent with the DNA profiles of both Garcia and Zawko.

Garcia has been charged with Murder in the 2^nd Degree. He has been arrested and remanded to the Anchorage Jail with no bail.
