The body of a kayaker missing since Monday was found on a sandbar near Controller Bay at 5:30 pm on Tuesday.
32-year-old Scott Bell of Minnesota was reportedly seen last on Monday evening. When last seen, it was reported that he was possibly in a kayak.
It was also reported that Bell typically did not use a flotation device when out kayaking.
The Coast Guard, on Tuesday reported to the Alaska Wildlife Troopers that they were actively searching for the missing man. The Wildlife troopers also took up the search and spent several hours looking for Bell along with the Coast Guard and another local air asset.
After recovering Bell’s remains from the sandbar, they were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.
Bell’s next of kin was notified.
