An investigation is on-going according to the Trooper Dispatch concerning an accident that occurred at Mile 145 of the Sterling Highway on Saturday.
It was at 4:43 pm on Saturday that 46-year-old Kenai resident Anthony Larocca was traveling northbound in his green 1995 Dodge pickup when he attempted to pass a vehicle in front of him.
As he attempted to pass, Larocca lost control of his vehicle. Another vehicle, a 2013 Ford Explorer was traveling in the southbound lane. This vehicle, driven by an Alaska State Trooper assigned to the Anchor Point post, attempted to avoid the on-coming out of control vehicle, but could not.

A crash ensued as the pickup truck impacted the trooper’s vehicle on the driver’s side door. The unidentified trooper sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to the South Peninsula hospital in Homer, where he was treated and later released. The AST vehicle was heavily damaged and was towed from the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck, Larocca, and his two passengers were uninjured in the crash. The pickup truck was still operational after the incident.
All involved reported wearing their seatbelts. Alcohol was not considered a factor in this accident.
The Bureau of Highway Patrol is continueing it investigation of the incident.
