Troopers diverted traffic around an accident scene on the Parks Highway on Tuesday morning and afternoon as responders worked to extricate a woman from the wreckage of her vehicle after a serious accident, and troopers conducted an investigation.
At 11:01 am, troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident at mile 51 of the Parks Highway. When they arrived, they found that a 68-year-old woman, identified as Wasilla resident, Beverly Marple, was trapped in her Ford F-150 and had suffered life-threatening injuries. After she was extricated, she, as well as her passenger, 71-year-old Alen Marple, who has suffered serious injuries as well, were transported to the hospital.
The investigation into the cause of the accident revealed that a “semi-tractor trailer, driven by Carl Wilbur, 72 of Wasilla, was heading southbound. The semi reportedly lost control and jackknifed when it was slowing down to avoid another vehicle that had pulled out on highway,” troopers report.
Wilbur did not report any injuries.
According to the trooper dispatch, Marple was traveling northbound and slammed into the side of the semi.
The highway was fully open by 3:15 pm.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
