During the early morning hours of Wednesday, troopers received a report of a stolen vehicle in Sterling.
Trooopers arrived at the location where the 2007 Toyota pickup was stolen from. Troopers interviewed the vehicle’s owner to find that the vehicle had been stolen between 11 pm on Tuesday night and 2 am that morning.
As troopers were conducting their investigation at the scene, they observed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen truck. The driver of the vehicle, realizing that he had been seen, sped away in the vehicle. Troopers gave chase.
The driver of the vehicle, drove into the ditch at the intersection of Carter Way and Skilak Lane in Sterling, but exited the vehicle and ran away on foot. The suspect did not make it far and was taken into custody by troopers.
Once caught, the suspect was identified as 30-year-old Jeremy Whitlow of Sterling. He was arrested on charges of Burglary II and Vehicle Theft I.
Troopers would also discover that Whitlow was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently charged with DUI as well. Troopers would also find that Whitlow had probation/parole violations.
Whitlow was transported to Wildwood Pretrial in Kenai and held there with no bail set.
