Two Arrested on Parks Highway Near Willow on Trespassing Charges

trooperarrestAlaska State Troopers contacted two individuals in a vehicle at mile 70 of the Parks Highway on Sunday afternoon during a traffic stop, after they had been reported as having been trespassing at a remote cabin near Willow, trooper dispatch reports.

When contacted, the driver of the vehicle was identified as 57-year-old James Woods of Wasilla. A background check by troopers would find that Woods had been driving with a revoked license. It was also determined that Woods had been trespassing and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for violating his conditions of release on a prior DUI. He was arrested for DWLR, Criminal Trespass I and his outstanding warrant.

Troopers also contacted a passenger in the vehicle, who provided troopers with false information as to his identity. Troopers would ascertain the man’s identity as 53-year-old Kotzebue resident, 53-year-old Robert Hunt. A background check would find that Hunt had two outstanding warrants for Misconduct Involving Weapons III, and Theft II. Hunt was arrested for Making a Fase Report, Criminal Trespass I, and his outstanding warrants.

Both men were transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and remanded there. Woods’s bail was set at $5,000 and Hunt had his bail set at $25,500 plus a court approved third party custodian.
