Two men off of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson were arrested by troopers after a brief foot chase in Wasilla on Sunday.
Alaska State Troopers received a report of a hit and run early Sunday morning at 6:15 am. By 6:17 am, troopers were on the scene. When they arrived at Basie Point Circle, they initiated contact with a blue 2001 Ford Ranger Pickup suspected of the hit and run that was now off the roadway and stuck. When attempting to contact the driver and the passenger of the vehicle, the two occupants fled on foot. But, the two men wewre ultimately caught and detained, according to the trooper dispatch.
After being taken into custody, the two men were identified as Wayne Parker and Christopher Crawford, both 21 years of age and both from the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.
The driver of the vehicle, Wayne Parker, was discovered to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested on that charge.
During the trooper investigation, the passenger, Christopher Crawford, was found to be in possesssion of a handgun while under the influence of alcohol and so was arrested and charged with Misconduct Involving Weapons IV.
Both men were transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where they were remanded. Parker’s bail was set at $500 and Crawford’s bail was set at $1,000.
The suspect’s vehicle was impounded.
