Alaska State Troopers reported that they have made an arrest in last Wednesday’s injury shooting in Wasilla on Monday night.
The U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, with the assistance of the Palmer-based Alaska State Troopers, and Mat-Su SDEU, arrested 28-year-old Robert Casello on Monday night after the investigation identified Casello as one of the suspects in Wednesday’s incident. He was apprehended at a Wasilla residence.
It was last Wednesday that Palmer-based troopers received a call reporting a shooting at a residence on the outskirts of Wasilla at 11:22 pm. When troopers responded, they would find that an adult male had suffered critical injuries inside the residence.
Witnesses reported that the suspects had fled the scene prior to the troopers arrival. One of the suspects was identified as Casello, and the following day, an arrest warrant was issued on charges of Attempted Murder I, Assault I, and Misconduct Involving Weapons III.
When apprehended at 8:45 pm Monday, authorities would find that Casello had “an apparent gunshot wound to his thigh that appeared several days old,” troopers reported. After Casello was medically evaluated at the hospital, he was cleared to be discharged. Casello was booked into the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility without bail barring any new developments in the case.
Troopers are asking that anyone with information pertaining to this continuing investigation to contact them in Palmer at 745-2131.
