A 24-year-old Hooper Bay woman was discovered deceased in her bedroom early Wednesday morning after being arrested and charged with DUI late in the evening the night before, troopers revealed on Thursday.
Late on Tuesday evening, the Village Public Safety Officer in Hooper Bay arrested 24-year-old Johanna Murran on DUI charges, troopers say. But, because Murran had no previous DUI convictions, the statewide bail schedule dictated that she be released on her own recognizance. The VPO escorted Murran to her residence where she was released to an adult family member.
She was found deceased at 4:15 AM.
A Bethel-based trooper traveled to the village to conduct an investigation. No foul play is suspected in Murran’s death. Her remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.
The investigation is continuing.
