Big Lake Man Indicted on Murder/Kidnapping Charges in Death of Dolly Hampton

Alaska State Troopers reported on Tuesday that after several months of investigations by multiple law enforcement units, a Palmer Grand Jury handed down a five-count indictment against a Big Lake man for the homicide of Dolly Hampton.

24-year-old Big Lake resident Adam Drew was indicted on charges of Murder I, Murder II x2, Kidnapping, and Misconduct Involving Weapons III by a Palmer Grand Jury following an investigation into Hampton’s death by Mat-Su General Investigation Unit, South Central Investigation Unit, Palmer CSU, Anchorage ABI/TCU, and Mat-Su Drugs. That investigation began on December 6th, 2018 when family members reported her missing.

Hampton’s remains were found and reported to AST on the evening of April 3rd and troopers responded to the Big Lake area to find that the remains found had been exposed to the elements for far too long to immediately make a positive identification. Hampton’s remains were turned over to the State Medical Examiner’s office for identification and manner of death.

One week later, on April 10th, the SME’s office reported that the remains were those of 57-year-old Dolly Hampton of Wasilla. The office also determined her manner of death to be a homicide.

Investigators identified the suspect in her disappearance and death to be Adam Drew. When identified, Drew was already incarcerated on unrelated offenses. He had been jailed since January 3rd.

Drew is scheduled to be arraigned on his new charges on May 8th at 2:30 pm.
