Alaska State Troopers arrested 21-year-old Charles Hedgers on 18 counts of Theft after responding to a call of a person stealing from parked vehicles in the area of Gail and Lucille Streets early Friday.
Troopers responded to the scene at Gail and Lucille Street at 2:27 am on Friday morning to find that several vehicles there had been rifled through and a pickup had been stolen.
Alaska State Troopers and Wasilla Police tracked the suspect for several miles with the assistance of K-9 “Marshal” and were able to apprehend Hedgers.
In addition to stealing a pickup as well as items from several vehicles in the neighborhood on Friday morning, Hedgers, it was discovered, was responsible for several thefts spanning a period of two months.
As a result, Hedgers was charged with 18 counts of Theft II, four counts of Misconduct Involving Weapons III for possession of a concealable firearm after being convicted of a felony.
During the investigation performed by the Criminal Suppresssion Unit, they recovered 14 stolen firearms and approximately $10,000 worth of stolen property.
Hedgers was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded without bail.
