A stop of a 1997 Eagle Talon on the Parks Highway on Monday resulted in an arrest for Felony DUI, multiple warrants, possession, and a revoked driver's license.
Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop for speeding on an Eagle Talon at 2:41 am on Monday and identified the driver as 27-year-old Wasilla resident Harvey J. Kanayurak.
Troopers would find that Kanayurak was under the influence of alcohol. An investigation of Kanayurak would find that he had two prior DUI convictions in the past ten years making this incidence a Felony DUI.
Troopers also found that Kanayurak was driving on a revoked license that stemmed from a reckless driving conviction. The investigation also found that there were two warrants out for Kanayurak’s arrest. The first warrant was for failure to appear for a pre-trial conference for driving with a revoked license, the second was for failure to comply with probation on a charge of Assault IV x2.
When arrested, Kanayurak was also found to be in possession of marijuana.
Kanayurak was arrested and charged with Felony DUI, DWLR, and MICS VI. He was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded and his bail set at $13,500 plus a court approved third party custodian.
