Alaska State Troopers with the Bureau of Highway Patrol received an anonymous tip reporting people with outstanding warrants at a residence that was involved in drug sales on Sunday.
Troopers responded to the house identified as the residence on St. Elias Circle near Wasilla at 4:50 pm on Sunday.
The trooper investigation at the scene would find that 20-year-old Benjamin S. Crafton of Wasilla was hiding at the residence. Crafton was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of driving without insurance.
Crafton was arrested on the warrant.
After the trooper investigation at the residence, they were preparing to leave when they saw a 1998 Mazda sedan pull into the driveway. The driver of the Mazda realised that troopers were present at the residence and pulled back out of the driveway and sped off.
Troopers pursued the fleeing vehicle and after observing the driver ccommit several moving violations, conducted a traffic stop on Fairview Loop near Harness Road.
An investigation at the scene would find that a passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Wasilla resident Ian A Stormont, was in possession of a user’s amount of hashish oil.
Troopers transported both Crafton and Stormont to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where they were remanded.
Crafton’s bail was set at $250 cash. Stormont was charged with MICS V and released on his own recognizance.
