The Alaska State Troopers responded to the scene of an accident involving a Suzuki Sedan and a motorcycle on Trunk Road just north of the Palmer-Wasilla Highway on Sunday.
When troopers arrived on the scene with the Central Mat-Su Fire and EMS at 8:57 pm on Sunday, their investigation revealed that 26-year-old Wasilla resident Matthew J. Reid was headed southbound on Trunk Road towards the Palmer-Wasilla Highway in his sedan when a motorcycle traveling in the northbound lane failed to negotiate a turn in the road and lost control.

Reid’s vehicle was at an almost dead stop as the motorcycle, driven by 53-year-old Anchorage resident Charles Henson, entered into the southbound lane directly ahead of Reid’s vehicle. The motorcycle collided head-on into the sedan.
Henson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and suffered sever head injuries in the crash.
The driver of the motorcycle was transported to an Anchorage hospital by medical air ambulance and is listed in critical condition.
The investigation into the crash is continueing. Henson’s next of kin have been notified.
