Wasilla Driver Almost Hits then Eludes Trooper

After his patrol car was nearly hit near the intersection of Pittman Road ans Sunrise Place on Thursday evening at 5:09 pm, the Alaska State Trooper turned on his lights and siren. When he did so, the offending driver fled from the scene.

The trooper chased the 2001 black Ford Ranger, who had crossed over the centerline, onto Sunrise Road, where the driver jumped out of his vehicle and attempted to flee the arresting officer.

The driver, despite his efforts, was apprehended by the trooper and was identified as 57-year-old Dennis Mahoney of Wasilla.

Mahoney was determined to be driving under the influence and with his license revoked.

Mahoney was arrested and charged with Felony DUI, Felony Eluding, Felony Refusal, and Driving with a Revoked License. He was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded and his bail set at $5,000 corporate and $2,000 cash performance.
