On Saturday morning, Alaska State Troopers and Wildlife Troopers received a report of a multiple vehicle accident near Creekwood Park in Palmer.
When they arrived at the scene and began their investigation, they found that a 2012 Chevy Silverado had been involved in the accident, then fled the scene. The Silverado was located approximately a half mile from the scene of the collision. It had been ditched by the driver, who subsequently fled on foot.. Troopers would find that the vehicle had been reported stolen on January 12th.
Troopers tracked the driver to a bridge about a mile away. They would find the driver, identified as 31-year-old Wasilla resident, Thomas Hofmann, hiding beneath the structure.
Hofmann was arrested, charged with Hit and Run and Vehicle Theft, and transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, where he was remanded and his bail set at $10,000.
