Late Thursday afternoon troopers observed a truck pull out from a parking lot onto the Parks Highway without coming to a stop first and so pulled the vehicle over.
When troopers did so, they found that the driver, 41-year-old Jan Price of Willow, was under the influence of alcohol. Troopers arrested Price on that charge. As they were arresting Price, they found that he had a handgun in his possession while intoxicated, and had failed to immediately inform the troopers that he had the weapon on his person. Troopers would also find that Price was in possession of oxycodone without a prescription,
As a result, in addition to the DUI charge, Price was also charged with Misconduct Involving Weapons IV, Misconduct Involving Weapons V, and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV.
Price was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, where he was remanded with his bail set at $10,000.
