Chugiak Woman Nets Several Charges in Rear-End Collision

DUI_Patrol_02A two-vehicle car crash on the Knik-Goose Bay Road on Saturday resulted in four charges leveled at one of the drivers troopers reported via trooper dispatch on Wednesday.

At 9:01 pm on Saturday, troopers responded to mile 6.5 of the Knik-Goose Bay Road for a two vehicle crash with injuries.

When they arrived and conducted their investigation, troopers discovered that one of the drivers involved in the accident, 40-year-old Siv Jonsson of Chugiak, was driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving with a revoked driver’s license when she rear-ended the vehicle in front of her. One of the passengers in Jonsson’s vehicle was not wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. That passenger was treated at the scene and released.

Jonsson would refuse to submit to a Datamaster test.

She was charged with DUI, Driving While License Revoked, Assault IV, and Refusal of a Chemical Test. Jonsson was also issued citations for No Proof of Insurance, and Failure to Exercise Due Caution.

Jonsson was transported to Palmer where she was remanded at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail.
