Troopers on patrol on the Knik Goose Bay Road within the Safety Corridor initiated a traffic stop on a 2003 GMC Sierra after observing it leaving its lane of travel several times.
After stopping the vehicle, the driver was identified as 34-year-old Anchorage resident Timothy R. Lewis. The subsequent investigation found that Lewis was impaired by alcohol and so was charged with DUI.
Further investigation would find that Lewis had been convicted of DUI two times in the past ten years, and so making the current arrest a Felony DUI. It was also found that Lewis had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for Failure to Satisfy Judgement on a charge of Driving in Violation of a License Limitation.
Lewis was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and remanded there with his bail set at $5,200. He must also have a court appointed third party custodian in addition to the bail.
