Alaska State Troopers responded to Basargin Road in Voznesenka to the scene of an accident involving an SUV and a four-wheeler Sunday at 1:16 pm.
According to the Alaska State Trooper Dispatch, the responding trooper’s investigation found that a four-wheeler, with a driver and a passenger, both juvenile males, had been traveling south-bound on Basargin Road at a high rate of speed when they encountered a red Ford Escape traveling in the opposite direction.

When trying to slow down to avoid the SUV, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The four-wheeler slid into the front of the on-coming Escape. Both riders were thrown from the bike.
Both juveniles were rushed to the South Peninsula Hospital in Homer for treatment of serious injuries.
Troopers state that the investigation is continueing.
The Russian community of Voznesenka is located about 25 miles east of the city of Homer in Kachemak Bay on the south portion of the Kenai Peninsula. The community of approximately 275 was founded in 1985 by Russian Old Believers who decided to leave another Russian village, Nikolaevsk.
