Runaway Located after Routine Seward Highway Traffic Stop

A 16-year-old runaway was returned to her parents after a routine traffic stop on the Seward Highway on Sunday.

Troopers pulled over a white GMC pickup for an equipment violation at 3:40 pm on Sunday near mile 90 of the Seward Highway and contacted the driver of the vehicle that they identified as 22-year-old Jaycen Waddel of Anchorage. It was found that Waddell was driving with a suspended driver’s license.

Further investigation would find that a passenger in the vehicle, 21-year-old Anchorage resident Michael Rennie, had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on the original charge of Driving While License Suspended.

As the troopers continued their investigation at the scene, they would find that another passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old female was listed as a runaway.

The juvenile female was transported by troopers and returned to her parent.

Waddell was issued a citation for DWLS.

Rennie was arrested on the active warrant and transported to the Anchorage Jail where he was remanded and his bail set at $500.
