Troopers with the Criminal Suppression Unit report that they arrested a convicted felon in a vehicle who was reaching under a seat where a firearm was secreted on Saturday evening.
Troopers state that they had responded to a Alvin’s Way residence in Wasilla at 6:06 pm on Saturday evening to serve an arrest warrant, when they contacted the driver of a vehicle outside the residence.
As they contacted the driver, identified as Kristopher Simpson, age 33 of Wasilla, he began reaching under the passenger’s seat, at which time, he was placed under arrest, the trooper dispatch reported. Further investigation would find that there was a handgun under the seat. Upon closer inspection authorities would find that the handgun had its serial number “unlawfully altered.”[xyz-ihs snippet=”adsense-body-ad”]
When arrested, they would also find that Simpson was in possession of “methamphetamine and heroin packaged for sale.”
Simpson, a convicted felon, who is prohibited from possession of a firearm, was charged with two counts of Misconduct Involving a Weapon III. Additionally, he was charged with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance II.
Simpson was transported to Palmer, where he was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility with his bail set at $5,250 and a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adversal-468×60″]
