An Emmonak man is in jail with his bail set at $25,000 after he was reportedly involved in an assault with an axe int that community on Friday.
When troopers went to the residence of 23-year-old Justin Oktoyak to investigate the incident, Oktoyak barricaded himself in the home for a short time before fleeing on foot from the scene.
When troopers chased down the fleeing Oktoyak, he violently resisted arrest. Both Oktoyak and the arresting trooper received minor injuries in the incident.
Further investigation at the scene found that Oktoyak had also damaged the family vehicle before the assault had been reported.
Oktoyak was also found to have a warrant out of Anchorage and was remanded on that warrant as well.
Oktoyak was arraigned on six counts of Assault III, Criminal Mischief, and Resisting Arrest and his bail was set at $25,000.
